(a glimpse into my relationship with my Digital Video Recorder)
April 1st-ish
Things were going so well between us the past 3 years that I feel I have taken you for granted. Maybe this recent rebellion is so I will appreciate you more, I don't know. I just assumed you would always be there to record American Idol for me, never missing a note that my "Archie" would sing, never missing a word the judges would say, never missing the impending results the following night. I'm sorry, please forgive me.
April 8th-ish
I thought when I apologized, we had cleared up this mess. But now you're just acting out! I know you resent me because you only malfunction for my shows, missing 30 seconds of a show at a time, sound going out so I can't hear what is being said, giving me the run around, always sending me back to the menu. I thought we were past this...but it requires that both of us are committed to making things better, and I don't think you care anymore.
April 15-ish
Ok- I am not easily offended or angered, but you have crossed a line! Now you just taunt me...turning on and off with reckless abandon, just to prove that you are in charge of this relationship! Do you think you are IRREPLACEABLE?!! Well- I called Mike at technical support and he told me how to handle you! It didn't work of course, but THEN I talked to Sonya and she gave me permission to unplug you and send you back! That's right! You are outta here...no more disappointment because of you! Good riddons!
April 16
Ok- maybe I was a bit hasty. It's hard to watch American Idol on live TV. I miss the comfort and convenience you offered me. It's hard to schedule your evening around the shows you want to watch instead of having a life and working-in my shows when it's convenient for me. Only 4 more days til your replacement comes...maybe she will be a real DVR, one that I can depend on, spend quality time with, and we'll laugh and cry together as we once did...

Couldn't live without the DVR... and, I can't believe how close you are to having little CJ here!
hahaha u crack me up! I'd be mad if mine did that too, because i RARELY watch it on live time. I just loved that convenience of fast forwarding through Kristy Lee Cook. haha. Whats this? Your babys name is CJ? :) AWWWW!
yes- his name will be Clifford Joseph and we will call him CJ for short.
Thats GREAT!!!!! Encore!!!
:) Charity, you are too funny....I am so glad that there will be an end to the DVR insanity soon! I love CJ---that was what my grandpa went by and everybody loves him...
You made me laugh out loud.
Hi Charity! I followed the link on Chandra's blog and thought I'd say Hi. Congratulations on your boy coming. Hope life is treating you well!
I am excited for your big day coming. I love my boys, my girls too but I know you know all about that. I thought you might wait to see if Archie won Idol before you picked the name, well CJ should be good ;)
This was hysterical!
Let us know how the new one treats you.
No more bitter moments of blue screen when you want David Archuletta! I hope the new DVR works flawlessly, that way when I miss an episode because my antenna passes out I'm coming to your house!
I have felt this way about my Smallville DVDs occasionally. That's right... I may not watch TV, but I own all 6 DVD sets of Smallville (so far), and I watch the entire set at least twice a year. Hopefully your replacement will come soon and all will be well.
