Smells like Coldplay

So...Cliff and I went to see Coldplay in Birmingham last night. IT WAS AH-MAZE-ING! Cliff didn't care so much, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself, especially because I TOUCHED Coldplay! I know, CRAZY, right?! But true!

Here's the story...So...what had happened WUZ...(that's for you Teh) We were sitting on the aisle seats in the middle section of the second level. The 10 or so seats next to us as well as the 5 rows behind us were practically empty, but the rest of the place was packed. The concert starts...everyone's on their feet and I can't see over the people in front of me, even on my tippy toes. Cliff suggests I stand on the stadium seat, so I did, until security made me get down. So I stood in the aisle, until security made me move back to my seat. I was really irritated.

So Cliff asks the security guy if we can move to the back row since no one was there, and he said yes. So we move to the back row, and with no one in the 4 or 5 rows in front of us I can see the stage pretty good. The security guy comes over to us and says, "These are better seats anyway because in a while the band is going to come up this aisle and play on this stage right behind you." I looked behind us, and (this is where Cliff and I do not agree...he says it was 6 feet away I say more like 8 to 10 feet, but anyway) there behind us is a small stage set up with mikes and a guitar stand. So we go on enjoying the show and as they start playing Viva La Vida about 12 policemen walk down the aisles taping it off and getting people back in their seats again, and everyone is looking around like "what's goin' on?" But I knew what was going on and I thought I might wet myself! Literally, I had just had a huge cup of sprite, but I was not going to miss this!

So after the song the band comes off the stage and starts up the aisle and comes up right next to me. As each guy passed I touched them ...not like barely touching with my fingertips, but both palms of my hands on their shoulder...until Chris Martin walks up nonchalantly with his head slightly toward the sky and his arms stretched out just letting his fans touch him. I reached and had his shoulder in both hands and held onto his arm as he walked up the stairs until all that was left in my hands was the smell of British sweat! CRAZiNESS, I TELL YOU!

*Here is video footage of darkness with me screaming at the top of my lungs as Coldplay passes through my hands! You can't really see anything :) *

They walked up to the small stage 6-10 feet behind us and all of a sudden I was on the front row! They performed 3 or 4 songs from that stage and then headed back to the stage a different route. It was so surreal! It was an awesome show! Unreal, I tell you, unreal!

*Here is footage of Coldplay on the small stage 8-10 feet from us! Chris Martin is asking everyone to get out their cell phones and turn them on to do a cell phone wave.*

...And what does Samantha say? "I don't understand, what's the big deal?" and Alex just rolls her eyes. They may not think it's cool but all night my hands smelled like Coldplay!

Sounds like fun! I told David about it and he was like "that will be us someday" haha. Sure. I don't go crazy, at least, not until I do.

Well the post is great what an event! But the highlight for me is the video where you can't see anything but I can hear you scream. It made me smile and miss you. I'm glad you are you and had such a fun time.

I had to keep reminding myself that it was YOU writing this post and not your daughter. When did you turn 15? :) Fun for you!

So jealous, Chair. Maybe Neal will surprise me with at least ONE of their concerts before they leave the States. Or maybe he will better surprise me with a concert in Europe. Oh to dream...
BTW...don't wash those hands. Haha.

I can't believe it took me so long to read this. I love how you are recapturing the teenager inside of you.:) That must have been so incredibly fun!!!

I guess not everyone understands the live music obsession and just how awesome it is to touch the band!

Charity, before you go see Coldplay in concert, you CALL THE MARSAWS and see if they want to go!!!

I'm glad y'all (OK mostly you) had a great time. I'm totally jealous and am anxious to shake the hands that might still contain a shadow of British sweat.

You're awesome.
